Hi,
Didnt you say you aready had a 10g client? As this was working before you added developer 6i, moving the 10g client back to the front of your PATH system environment variable should have fixed it. To do that you could either open the Oracle Universal Installer that was probably also installed with the 10g client, click Installed Products > Environment tab , then move the 10g home to the top of the list with the arrows. You also could have just editted your PATH system environment variable manually and put the 10g bin back in the front of the other stuff.
Since System.Data.OracleClient loads oci.dll based on PATH, if your 806 home is first it would find the 806 oci.dll and as the error message says..
If you added another home, it sounds like you now have at least 3 oracle homes. The homes arent aware of each other, so all 3 need to have tnsnames.ora configured.
Alternatively, if you set a system environment variable called TNS_ADMIN and point it to a folder that contains tnsnames.ora and sqlnet.ora, all of the install clients/homes will use that single copy of tnsnames/sqlnet.
Hope it helps,
Greg
